I'm a tourist/short-term visitor, can we worship at
Community Church while we are here? |

| Community
Church loves to welcome guests, whatever the nation, whatever
the tradition. Email the
office to let us know you are coming and for any
further information you may require. Check out our Sunday
meeting times and conference dates here. |

we can recommend the following:

From
Glasgow and the West
From Junction 1 of the M9 follow the A8 all the way
to the centre of Edinburgh (the A8 is known as Corstorphine
Road for most of its length). Continue past Haymarket
Station (see schematic above) along Shandwick Place
until you reach the West end of Princes Street. Turn
right (South) into Lothian Road. Drive until you reach
Tollcross before continuing South along Brougham Street
and Brougham Place, which eventually link into Melville
Drive (A700). Skirt the Meadows and turn right at the
traffic lights into South Clerk Street after passing
down Hope Park Terrace.

Car
parking facilities
As we are a city centre church, parking can be a
problem. All of the streets around the church building
have restricted parking, so watch out! There is a fee
paying NCP carpark off St Leonards Street 2 minutes
to the North-East of the church. (down Bernard Terrace,
turn left in St Leonards St and first right into Hermits
Croft - have a look at the multi-map to orientate yourselves).

| How
do I get to the church by bus? |
|
The
following buses stop at the bus stop called "Kings
Hall", which is located directly in front of the
building: 7; 31; 37; 37A; X37; X47; N37. The following
buses stop at the bus stop called "Queens Hall,"
2 minutes away from the hall:
3; 3A; 5; 8; 14; 29; 33; 49; N33.
See the locations of the bus-stops on the schematic above.
The above services are all operated by Lothian Buses. |
| How
do I get to the church by train? |
|
Edinburgh Waverley station is 2 miles from the Kings Hall.
All of the above bus routes travel past Waverley to stop
just near the Kings Hall: you can catch them from North
Bridge, which crosses over the station. |
| How
do I get to the church by air? |
|
Edinburgh airport has excellent links within the UK and
is growing rapidly as an international destination. When
you arrive at the airport, you will be able to travel
into town by taxi, hire-car or bus.
Getting into town by bus:
Catch
the Airbus (run by Lothian Buses) into Edinburgh from
directly outside the terminal. An Airbus leaves for the
centre every 15 minutes and costs £5 for an open
return. The Airbus terminates at Waverly Bridge, just
to the east of Waverley Station (see above) and takes
about 30 minutes. From Waverley Station you can catch
buses to the Kings Hall as detailed above.
Getting into town by hire-car:
Turn eastwards after leaving the airport and follow the
A8 all the way to the centre of Edinburgh (see instructions
for approaching the city from the West) |

At
Sunday Services
Coffee and biscuits are provided after every Sunday service.
These usually finish around 12.30, with the hall shutting
around 1.15pm, leaving up to an hour for people to catch
up with each other/get to know new people.
After some Sunday services (as detailed under meetings),
there is a community meal. If you are attending one of
these as a visitor and feel like contributing to the spread
(although there is no obligation to), we usually ask people
to bring something savoury, but edible without cooking.
Thanks! Other than this, you will find that many members
of the congregation go straight from the Sunday service
to their Sunday lunch, be it at home or at a nearby cafe
or restaurant. Ask around and see who you can hook up
with!
We sometimes also have special student lunches, particularly
around October time when new students are arriving in
Edinburgh for University.
At Conferences
As conferences usually span a day, we recommend that delegates
bring their own packed lunch, as lunch is never included
in the cost of the conference (although coffee, drinks
and biscuits are provided during morning and afternoon
breaks). If you choose to not bring a packed lunch there
are a range of eateries on South Clerk Street within 5
minutes of the church, from the excellent deli and sandwich
shop called the Filling Station right next door or to
the Dragon Way Chinese restaurant for something a bit
bigger just across the road. Ask conference stewards on
the day if you are in any doubt. |
