- Define
a Christian model of counselling based upon the work of
Larry Crabb (exploring the spiritual, rational, volitional,
emotional and physical aspects of the person and their issues);
- Use
the skills of attending, active listening, empathy, questioning
and summary;
- Discuss
the importance of both confidentiality and the particular
qualities of an effective counsellor;
- Outline
Erikson's theory of human development stages 1 & 2.
- Give
a basic definition of relational style;
- Explore
their own reactions to the course material and develop general
self-awareness.
Additional
Work
Course participants will be required to produce written assignments.
These assignments are expected to be completed between sessions
as well as after the end of the course.
