Discipleship

Disciples of Jesus - a phrase that is used of the first followers of Jesus, but is also true for us now.  We are to learn from Him, and become more like Him.

That doesn’t just happen unfortunately!  It requires some focus and work from us.  Prayer, Bible reading & study, teaching, worship, and other spiritual disciplines put us in the place where God can change us.  We want to give students as much opportunity to grow during thier student years.  Involvement in cell groups and some Bible teaching evening (last year we started going through Romans) are two ways in which we enable this growth to happen.

We recognise that sometimes people learn by doing.  So we are always keen to get student involved, either in the student work (how about leading some worship or a cell group?) or in the wider church.  Training and support is offered so we are not throwing people into the deep end too much!

Finally, we offer an older Christian (maybe a 4th year student or a graduate) who can meet with you, to help you in your spiritual growth.  This is an opportunity to work through a booklet together and talk about what God is doing in your life.  If you are interested in meeting with someone, please talk to Liz Dixon.
