News from Jenny Foy

“I was meant to begin my university placement in Wigan (near Manchester) on the 22nd Sept. Unfortunately I found out in August that this was withdrawn. There has been a massive shortage of placements for dietitians in the UK so I was really worried I wouldn’t get one for a long while. I prayed loads about it (as did my friends and family!). Normally I like to be organised and plan ahead but I tried to stay calm and found a job in a bakery to get some money. I then received a phone call telling me that I was to start a new placement around Kintyre and Oban in ten days time!

I’m so glad now that my English placement was withdrawn. The dietitians on placement have been so nice, the scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly. The main worry was finding accommodation because all the towns are quite “touristy” and expensive. Again I prayed about this and everything has just worked out so well, although slightly expensive! I think I’ve really learnt just to keep calm and pray, rather than worrying and trying to plan. “
