Iain and
Liz McKenzie now of Inverness are fundraising for their Honduras
mission
If you've
been around a while, you might remember us, the McKenzie family
- we moved to Inverness in 1991? Well we are making plans
to go on a real life-time adventure to Honduras in Central
America. We are going on 12th July 2004 initially for 5 years.
(Iain & Liz were with us here from the very early days
at City Temple in the 70's and throughout the years we were
without a building. Iain used to do sound for us, and set
up the original system in the King's Hall. He was also the
gofer during the construction phase. Together they used to
run a house group and they regularly offered accommodation
to people in the church who were just starting out. - Colin
)
The purpose of our move to Honduras is to develop two projects.
Firstly to set up an orphanage and secondly to set up a house
where children from extremely rural areas can live while they
get access to schools they would otherwise be unable to get
to. Initially we will work for a group called The Cornerstone
Foundation who has built a charitable hospital in Honduras
which is run by volunteer medics mostly from America. We will
also be attending language school and of course will be immersed
in the culture from day one. If you would like to find out
more about this you can look up their web site at; www.mckenziesinhonduras.co.uk
We require
to raise around £1,500 per month to live in Honduras
as a family and a further £500 a month during the first
year to pay for language school. We have already seen God
moving and experienced the generosity of many people and we
have already reached 75% of the target. If you want more information
or if you would like to sponsor us you can contact us directly
at iain.mckenzie@highland.gov.uk or
mckenzie1457@yahoo.co.uk or on 01463 792 455. In any event,
please pray for us as we are in the final stages of making
our preparations to go.
