Here
are the prophetic images and reflective insights shared
on the Community & Vision Day on Saturday 5th May during
our worship and prayer time.
As well
as recording and publishing them these impressions
clearly may also convey life and inspiration on an on-going
basis, not merely have a single moments impact. So
here are a few suggestions as to how we could engage with
God and each other through these reflections. If you have
insights coming out of your prayers or additional impressions
and images etc then please forward to the office or Andrew.
- Take
one of the images that grabs you. Hold it your mind before
God, see him breathe on it and on us in relation to it.
This acts as a prayer itself.
- Create
a prayer out of one of the words/images
- Attach
a scripture that comes to mind with the word/image and
mull that over
- Treat
it as some sort of video, allow it to move on be
aware of elements that draw your attention eg rainbow:
rain, darkness, light, arching, hope, promise. What do
you see?
- Draw
or paint one of the images for personal use or give in
to a staff member for wider use.
PS If
there are any missing from the day or what was said is not
correctly captured below please contact the office
or Andrew Hook
Prayers/Reflections:
Lord
release your resources to people in this room. [Jan Barfoot]
There
are things that we can do and there are things that only
God can do. This communion time is heavens kiss. Its
also where we get fed. Remain in me as I remain in you,
apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5-8) [Tim May]
Were
not going to copy other churches models. These models work
because of the grace of God and the touch of life. We go
off the map fine. We need the touch of life whether
the model is clear or not. [Fernando Munoz]
Prophetic
imagery:
Rainbow.
Each strip is a colour. Each contribute to make one thing
(unity) with differing colours (diversity). [Ann Symes]
Mustard
seed. Saw a mustard see then a tree where its trunk
reminded me of unity and its extensive branches which remind
me of diversity.
Saw
us being given (mustard?) seeds of the Kingdom into our
hands. He is trusting us.
Tapestry.
a)
Missed!
b)
All good tapestry is woven under tension. And large tapestries
are simultaneousy worked on by a number of people. Everyones
work melds together. Each never see the finished article.
God sees the end [Shirley Gatt]
Tent
David
Ramos reminded us of an old prophecy about us as a tent,
of driving the tent pegs deeply into the ground, to be well
rooted, rooted in worship for example. Now its time
to extend our boundaries.
Seed.
What is it we want to see grow? Read out Isaiah 58:6-10
Is
not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness [a] will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
"If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.
The
promises and dreams given in the past, God
is saying Dream again. Pick up the promises
again, Knock on closed doors. Reawaken something again.
